A Year in Glass - Reflecting on our highlights for 2024
A Year in Glass
What a year 2024 has been! The creative spirit of our artists, the dedication of our gallery team, and the enduring vision of Peter Layton and Tim Rawlinson is the basis of our success. Your continued support enables us to showcase and nurture contemporary glass, for which we are deeply grateful.
This year marked several milestone moments: Peter celebrated his 87th birthday, our studio family grew with Sophie and Tim's son Oskar becoming our youngest attendee at team meetings, and Tim joined Peter for their first collaborative exhibition 'Glass Heaven' in August - a remarkable union of two generations of glassmaking talent.
The year brought recognition and exposure for London Glassblowing. Peter's iconic 'Battery' was seen again by the public at the prestigious 'Glass Heart' exhibition at Two Temple Place, while Collect marked our presence at the forefront of contemporary craft at Somerset House.

Our community spirit shone through several events: the highly successful Yard Sale transformed our car park into a treasure trove, while our Summer Show 'Planet Earth' brought together 27 artists from around the country. In a special moment, Peter unearthed decades of experimental works in his 'Odds and Ends' showcase, sharing previously unseen gems which drew great interest from our international collectors.

2024’s achievements extended beyond our gallery walls, with our Gallery Director Gena Johns heading up the Bermondsey Street Festival, taking it into a new and exciting era.
Most significantly, our presence at PAD London Design + Art in Mayfair - as the first dedicated glass gallery in the fair's history - marked a watershed moment for us, introducing British Contemporary Glass to a new audience.

We've loved hosting a wide variety of gallery and studio events, including hugely popular demonstrations by Elliot Walker, David Patchen from the USA, Katherine Huskie and Layne Rowe. We're deeply grateful to everyone who visited us and supported us from across the globe in person or online.
Looking ahead to 2025, we begin with our signature January Sale, followed by our return to Collect at Somerset House in early March. We're particularly excited to announce our collaboration with the Contemporary Glass Society for 'Mirage', a curated group exhibition celebrating the intriguing possibilities of the fourth dimension.
Stay tuned for more announcements in the New Year & view our upcoming exhibitions here!
