‘Erriapus’ B431
Description
Erriapus is a square form set on its corner, held in a black glass base that grounds the piece with quiet solidity and geometric authority. The diamond orientation introduces an inherent tension, implying balance as a considered act rather than a given. Cast in deep amber-red glass through the lost wax process, the surface appears dense and opaque, carrying faint interior traces of the casting: wisps and veils suspended like cloud formations mid-movement. A vertical slot cuts through the form, creating a narrow aperture that focuses light into the interior, illuminating it from within. The contrast is elemental, as the brooding exterior gives way to a luminous core. As light shifts, opacity dissolves and colour begins to transmit, making the boundary between solid and light uncertain. Named after one of Saturn’s moons, the work reflects Romanelli’s ongoing exploration of celestial light transformed at human scale.
