Astro in Heliotrope and Apricot

Astro is a new series of artworks that delves deep into the unknown, and the spectrum of the cosmos, an abyss with complex and infinite structures that fascinate, captivate and enthral the spectator. Individual glass strands made using a special glass developed by the Venetians are placed inside large scale elegant blown glass forms with great dexterity to create complex and intricate internal structures. Some strands are meticulously decorated with 24 carat gold lustre to accentuate this exquisite, mysterious and energetic inner world.

The drama occurs when the two artists perfectly execute the seemingly impossible task of placing the strands within the hot glass form; an action-packed process of astounding complexity and skill. With these artworks Hanne and Louis have forged a bond between the historical Venetian glassmaking tradition with their contemporary and playful approach to glass.
