For 50 years, London Glassblowing has championed studio glassmaking. This anniversary exhibition brings together nearly 50 artists - current residents, cherished guests, and pioneers from founder Peter Layton's earlier studios - to celebrate a remarkable journey from 1976 to today's thriving gallery.

To mark half a century of creative glassmaking, Peter Layton invites you into his world of transformation and alchemy. Exploring evolving series, dormant ideas reborn, and exciting new collaborations, this landmark exhibition celebrates 50 years of artistry, passion, and uniquely crafted glass.

We were thrilled to return to Collect 2026, marking a momentous milestone: our 50th anniversary. Our presentation celebrated the remarkable diversity that has always been our hallmark: a kaleidoscope of artistic voices, techniques, and aesthetic approaches. We presented work from 17 exceptional artists whose practices embody this rich variety. 

Following our presence at Collect, Gather marked our golden anniversary with 19 exceptional artists showcasing the diversity defining London Glassblowing since 1976. From masters in museum collections to emerging voices like Spanish artist Anna Alsina Bardagí and Crispian Heath, the exhibition features live demonstrations and artist talks.

A duo exhibition bringing together the work of London Glassblowing founder Peter Layton and artist Tim Rawlinson in a visual conversation across generations. Peter's unique language in glass is being given a fresh perspective by Tim Rawlinson.

A special one-week showcase of renowned British glass sculptor David Reekie, featuring iconic archival works alongside new pieces created for this exclusive display.

This summer we showcased Peter Layton & Tim Rawlinson's experimental studies and works from series Peter has redeveloped or retired. The archive of Peter's visual library forms the bedrock of his creative process.

London Glassblowing and the Contemporary Glass Society presented "Mirage," an exhibition exploring the extraordinary optical illusions possible in contemporary glass art. This juried show featured 70 selected CGS members from across the UK.

We were pleased to announce our continuing participation in Collect, the Crafts Council’s International Art Fair for Contemporary Objects. It is one of the world’s most influential and prestigious showcases for contemporary craft and design.

Following our participation at Collect Art Fair, at Somerset House. Gather presented a bold exploration of contemporary glass art. This curation illustrates how our artists transcend conceptual and technical limitations to create their extraordinary works.

A visionary partnership which showcased exceptional contemporary craftsmanship. Bonhams The Art of Craft featured masterworks by David Reekie, Dale Chihuly, and William Morris, while London Glassblowing's companion exhibition highlighted founder Peter Layton alongside emerging talents.
