Tim Rawlinson

Tesseract I

£10,000.00
Description

In his experiments into combining the two processes of glassblowing and kiln casting, Tim   aims to capture the quality of when ink falls into water and the colour spreads and
flows in the liquid. The piece consists of nine separate blown components, that are then cast together in a mould inside a kiln.

When molten, the glass colour spreads and flows, and this fluidity is suspended as
the glass cools, achieving a paradoxically static movement. Ultimately the interior becomes a
painting in layers of colour, light and refraction. The cube has a highly polished finish, promoting and utilising the optical qualities of the glass.
