Curious Onlooker
David Reekie's main techniques are casting and lost wax casting, which allow him to explore ideas before working with glass. He models in clay and wax, gradually building and refining concepts. He has developed the use of ceramic enamel colours, both in the glass and on mould surfaces, to mirror effects from his drawings.
Politics and societal impacts consistently influence Reekie's work. He investigates relationships through the juxtaposition of figures, facial expressions, and subtle positioning of eyes and heads. These elements, combined in his drawings, eventually filter into his glass sculptures, reflecting nuanced human interactions.
Three sculptures available.
