We are currently recruiting for two positions at the gallery:

 

Gallery Assistant Full-time: 5 days a week
(including some weekend days)
£22-25k depending on experience

London Glassblowing is a well-established art studio and gallery on vibrant Bermondsey Street, SE1. Our beautiful gallery showcases stunning contemporary glass art by resident and guest artists, while visitors can watch the creative process unfold in our working studio. As one of Europe's leading glassblowing studios, we pride ourselves on our friendly, dedicated team and exceptional craftsmanship.

 

We are seeking a motivated Gallery Assistant to:

  • Support daily gallery operations with hands-on work including shipping, cataloguing, inventory management and administrative tasks

  • Maintain excellent presentation standards throughout the gallery and storage areas

  • Handle artwork with care, including packaging and shipping - this role involves regular heavy lifting and physical work

  • Engage with gallery visitors and support sales activities

  • Maintain accurate customer records and inventory systems

  • Keep detailed catalogue records for artworks and sales

  • Ensure the gallery and artworks are kept in pristine condition

 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous sales experience with strong customer rapport-building skills

  • Excellent organisational abilities and meticulous attention to detail

  • Physical capability for regular heavy lifting and careful artwork handling

  • Genuine enthusiasm for glass art and gallery operations

  • Self-motivated, proactive approach to varied responsibilities

  • Strong multitasking abilities and flexibility

  • Good IT skills and clear communication abilities

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

  • Genuine interest in contemporary art and craft

  • Flexibility to work weekend shifts as part of our rota

 


Part-Time Gallery Sales Assistant

Minimum 2/3 days a week
Including Saturdays & Sundays
£20-25k pro rata depending on experience

We are seeking a highly motivated Gallery Sales Assistant to:

  • Be first point of contact for visitors to the gallery

  • Drive sales while delivering outstanding customer service and luxury experiences

  • Build and maintain client relationships through proactive phone and email communication

  • Email customers to encourage sales

  • Enter accurate data entry of customer records

  • Maintain impeccable presentation standards throughout the gallery and storage areas. General housekeeping including dusting of gallery and artworks.

  • Handle artwork, packaging and shipping with careful attention to detail, which includes regular heavy lifting and physical work throughout the gallery.

 

The candidate must have:

  • Proven sales experience and ability to build rapport and close sales

  • Enthusiasm and a personable manner

  • Eagerness to expand knowledge in glass and sales techniques

  • Self-motivation with a results-driven approach

  • Great organisational skills with the ability to multitask

  • Genuine passion for contemporary art that translates into sales

  • Excellent communication and people skills to engage with discerning clients

  • The ability to work as an individual and as part of a team

  • Good IT skills, literacy and numeracy

  • A strong attention to detail

  • A willingness to learn and the ability to follow instructions
