Peter Selects: Glass Art Society (GAS) Members' Showcase

13 November - 6 December

An International Showcase

Emerging Order by Molly Liu

Since its inception, the British Glass Biennale has stood as the definitive survey of contemporary glass in the UK, a juried celebration of the artists shaping the future of the medium.

In 2026 the Biennale entered a new chapter under the aegis of the Glass Art Society, and will travel to the North West of England for the first time as the flagship exhibition of the International Festival of Glass in St Helens, a town whose glassmaking heritage spans more than two centuries. Alongside it, the festival hosts a new addition this year: the Glass Art Society's Members' Showcase, drawing work from across the Society's international membership.

Carabus Intricatus by Kt Yun

Fifty years ago, our founder, Peter Layton, established one of Europe's earliest hot glass studios, London Glassblowing, helping to ignite the studio glass movement in Britain. To mark the anniversary he was invited to cast his eye over the Members' Showcase and choose work by fifteen artists to bring to our Bermondsey Street gallery.

Peter Selects is neither a survey nor a 'best of'. It is one maker's personal response to the work of his peers: pieces that have caught his eye, stirred his curiosity, or reminded him why, after five decades, glass can still surprise him. With artists from Brazil, Canada, France, Japan, Norway, Uruguay, the US and the UK, it is also a rare chance to see work from across the international glass community at Bermondsey Street.
