Tim’s Reverb series draws inspiration from Anthony McCall’s groundbreaking Solid Light exhibition at Tate Modern, with McCall’s Line Described by a Cone being the first of his works that Tim encountered. This experience prompted Tim to explore the use of black lines in glass, delving into the effects of monochrome and how lines reverberate within a form. The external patterns disrupt the internal lines, transforming each vessel from a singular object into part of a wider installation.

A further influence came in 2019, when Tim and Peter visited Bridget Riley’s major retrospective. Riley’s optical explorations of rhythm, vibration, and spatial ambiguity resonated deeply with Tim, reinforcing his interest in visual perception and the shifting effects of pattern. Just as McCall’s beams of projected light generate three-dimensional illusions that alter as viewers move, Tim’s Reverb works create dynamic optical experiences in glass, engaging the viewer in a continual dialogue of movement and change.
