Anthony Scala’s Particle is a tribute to quantum physics' mysterious building blocks. Combining cast opalescent glass and hot sculpted glass, he creates a piece that juxtaposes solid structure with fluid form. The opalescent glass, achieved through constant observation during firing, encloses a dynamic nucleus of bubbles, symbolising quantum particles existing in multiple states simultaneously. This work challenges our perception of reality, contrasting the seemingly solid macro universe with the fluctuating quantum realm. Particle serves as a reminder that existence's fundamental nature may be far stranger than our current understanding allows, transcending mathematical projections and raw data.
