Lagoon
Heike’s sculptural forms explore transparent colour in glass through transformations and movement. By mixing colours during casting, she creates both uniform hues and patterns that reveal glass flow. The works change with viewing angle and light, enhanced by variations in thickness, curves, angles, and surface finishes. With no fixed base, these pieces can be positioned multiple ways and respond to touch with subtle motion.
Lagoon’s shape is based on a concept called D-form, a three-dimensional form created by joining the edges of two flat shapes with the same perimeter length – a simple yet intriguing and beautiful form. In this piece, pale blue-green hues blend with flowing patterns and bubbles, capturing the luminous turquoise of
tropical waters.
