Annulum is an offshoot of the word ‘Annulus’ which refers to a ring-shaped object, structure, or region.
Annulum is comprised of four separate elements. The two clear segments have been offset against each other and then counter balanced using a central core made from coloured optical glass.
The parabolic nature of the curved segments alters the viewers perception of the shape, allowing it to twist and magnify depending on the persons angle in relation to the piece.
Optical illusion is an infinite source of inspiration for my work and a poignant reminder that our reality is only as real as the information we compile form our senses.
