Ornithology

A fascination and love for birds started early in Layne’s life, when experiencing the release of trained pigeons. The experience of seeing these birds take flight has stayed with him through to adulthood. 

This collection is based on some of the most remarkable and colourful birds from all over the world. What intrigues him is that their feathers have evolved for all kinds of purposes; flight, insulation, camouflage and for the courting dance. Each inkwell contains colourful glass inks to represent the wonderful studies of a species where beauty follows form.
