Abstracted Landscape Wall Panel

This series of abstracted vessels was created in response to the delicate coastal landscape of North Somerset. The scenery is a continual source of inspiration for Claire, harbouring childhood memories of expansive skies, wide sandy beaches and muddy swims.

Her sustainable artistic practice begins by recycling scrap sheet glass into frit. The frit is then kilnfired to create a glass paper surface onto which gestural ink drawings from digital transfers can be layered. The flat surface is then refired into a mould, transforming the piece into a 3D vessel. Exploring the liminal spaces of landscape these works reflect the transient nature of our coastal environment.
