Polaris by Tim Rawlinson
Polaris marks a new development in Tim’s ongoing investigation of optical effects in glass. In this iteration, the series features a pink and blue colour combination, blending to create the illusion of soft purple, while a newly introduced optic mould generates a subtly mountainous pattern across the surface. Colours are applied in a painterly fashion, each pigment interacting to produce enchanting gradients. Encapsulated within a solid layer of clear glass, the colours and pattern are magnified and reflected, creating an effect reminiscent of a distant galaxy. Inspired by the luminous beauty of the northern lights - an effect Peter has also explored in his Aurora and Borealis series - Polaris celebrates the shared fascination both artists have with ephemeral natural phenomena.
