Lunar Landscapes grew from ideas developed during London Glassblowing Gallery’s exhibition VETRO: Exploring the Venetian Influence. While the works take diverse forms, they share a common thread in the use of fine filigree trailing. Building on earlier designs, including Atlantis Pyramids and other pieces from the original Burano family, the series was originally made in a deep blue colour with Elliot Walker’s skilled support. The pieces have since been redeveloped in a striking black and grey colourway. Peter explored a contour-like application of fine white trails over strong base colours, creating internal reliefs that evoke surreal, snow-capped mountain landscapes reminiscent of Chinese painting. The title refers to circles of reflected light, reminiscent of moonlight above the domed forms.
