Louise Hawkins studied Design at Goldsmiths before training at the International Glass Centre in Stourbridge, building her understanding of the medium working alongside some of Britain's leading traditional and contemporary glassmakers. In 1999, she and her partner Colin Hawkins received the Broadfield House Glass Scholarship, using the studio year to develop the ranges that would form the foundation of their own practice.

A decade into their collaborative career, Louise returned to study pattern and textiles at Gloscat in Cheltenham. That period, combined with a longstanding passion for nature and conservation, shaped the visual language she has since brought to glass. Her current focus is sand-carved botanical work featuring native flora and fauna, made at the LoCo Glass studio at New Brewery Arts Centre in the Cotswolds. Her work is held in public and private collections worldwide, and she exhibits in selected galleries as well as from the studio itself.
