Alto takes its name from altocumulus clouds, known for their delicate, transient formations. Peter’s intention is not to replicate clouds but to celebrate their fleeting beauty and the way they capture light and atmosphere. He has chosen intense sky-inspired background colours that allow the forms to “sing” visually. Like much of his work, Alto is collaborative, and Peter acknowledges the vital support of Olga Alianova and Graeme Reeves in bringing the series to life. The resulting glassworks celebrate the ephemeral and poetic qualities of nature, inviting viewers to pause and appreciate the wonder of clouds in their constantly shifting forms.
