White Cube / Robin Rhode
Some time ago Peter Layton was commissioned by White Cube Gallery to create a series of 12 full sized cast glass riot helmets ranging in tone from black to clear white, for a major sculptural installation for the South African artist, Robin Rhode.
This ambitious project also involved making vacuum coated glass vizors and using a variety of materials: cast glass, metal, plastic and fabric.
The final installation, entitled Impis XII, was exhibited at White Cube, Hoxton Square, London in 2009, to universal acclaim.
