Rainbow Mosaic
Rainbow Mosaic showcases the Venetian ice glass technique, where hot glass is repeatedly plunged into cold water, creating surface fissures that resemble cracked ice. After firing, Tim cuts and polishes two sides of the form, revealing the underside of the fractured surface. While traditionally used on thin blown glass, this adaptation achieves a jewel-like quality, with the textured surface fragmenting and distorting the colours within - an effect inspired by the floor mosaics Tim encountered in Pompeii.
