8 Console IV
Fracture Console reimagines scagliola, a 17th-century Italian decorative technique. Handcrafted using natural pigments, stone dust, and mineral gypsum, including pigments from the artist's Victorian home, the piece begins as a simple architectural form. SHY then unconventionally erodes the polished surfaces, revealing underlying layers and creating new sculptural forms. This process juxtaposes smooth and rock-like textures, highlighting the material's natural beauty and depth. Chips from one edition are embedded into the next, creating a narrative connection between objects and collectors. The work honours scagliola's heritage while pushing its boundaries.
