Vortex VIII

Heike’s work explores the interaction of colour, form and light in solid transparent glass. She is interested in colour phenomena – the way colour changes depending on adjacent hues, overlap, light, background - and the magic created by transparent colour in a 3-dimensional form, glowing as if lit from within.

Vortex VIII and Abnoba are part of a series of work exploring the mixing and overlapping of colour during the kiln casting process. When the object emerges from its mould, grinding and polishing slowly reveals a colourful record of movement and flow.
