Trottola III
‘Incalmo’, in Venetian dialect literally means “graft” as in joining two plants. To achieve these pieces two separate bubbles of different coloured glass are blown, opened to the exact diameter and thickness and joined together to form one single bubble again. The shape can then be formed and distorted.
Inspired by “spinning tops”, ‘Trottola’ are playful and eye-catching. By enlarging them and elaborately decorating them with bronze and details of cutting I am celebrating these simple forms, creating sculptures that trigger nostalgia.
