During their February/March residency in the Maldives Louis Thompson and James Devereux worked in the Soneva Art & Glass hot shop experimenting with new techniques and ideas. The purpose of their residency was to develop existing threads in their work in a new hotshop and to allow the tropical surroundings to affect their current artistic pre-occupations. 

Louis Thompson developed a series of bottles inspired by the forms of traditional Maldivian lacquer work, during this residency. Each piece has a star shaped inclusion embedded in the glass, suggestive of something marine like or celestial.
