This journey started in 1999 when Louis received a scholarship to study in the USA with Czech architect and designer Borek Sipek and master glassmaker Petr Novotny also from the Czech Republic. He became interested in the aesthetic of ‘forest glass’ a type of medieval glass made in Central Europe between 1000 - 1700AD and how this could be reimagined into objects with a contemporary twist.
