Materials/Technique: Glass cane and frit, fused and slumped
About this piece
This curved oval platter form is an utter delight. All the elements of this piece have been painstakingly laid out by hand in the kiln prior to firing. Timing and temperature are of paramount importance when attempting this type of work and Karen was the leading authority in the technique. The result is a piece executed with flawless precision, resembling a formation of perpetual ice, neither melting nor distorting. A transient moment captured forever in the medium of glass.
