Tyger Tyger, burning bright, In the forests of the night; William Blake Several years ago, on a trip to Ranthambore National Park in India, I had the incredibly good fortune to encounter a mother tiger and her cubs casually strolling past us in the reserve. This rare sight recalled for me Rousseau’s masterpiece, Tiger in a Tropical Storm, and his use of oils that capture the richness of the jungle and beauty of the wild tiger in its natural habitat. William Blake’s famous poem, The Tyger, is often related to this painting and both these works of art, combined with my personal experience, have inspired my new series, Tiger Tiger!
