While on a residency in Tacoma, in 2016, and taking inspiration from the exquisitely beautiful Mount Rainier, when not shrouded in cloud, Peter created a group of Mountain sculptures. These were blown into wet paper moulds to control their form and enhance their surface texture. The sculptures first created in Tacoma, formed the basis of several new versions of the mountain inspired pieces.
An element linking much of Peter’s work is his use of delicate linear graphic surface treatments. At times these both complement and contrast his dynamic colouring and mark making, which on the Mountains help to contour and delineate form. The pieces are completed with the addition of a bank of shapely cloudforms.
