Shibori is a new series inspired by Peter’s trip to Japan in 2019. Shibori is the name of an ancient Japanese tie-dye method of colouring fabric which dates back to the 8th century. Initially Peter sought to emulate the traditional indigo hues most commonly used for this process, but he soon felt the need to introduce more personal colourways into his experimental pieces. Peter takes inspiration from a variety of sources which materialise as a series evolves. Here, a long-held fascination with Cornish dry-stone walling surfaced, as he developed the colourway.
