Peter Layton’s work is renowned for its flamboyant painterly approach, and Paradiso, one of his signature series, created in a number of colours, represents a sculptural approach to vessel making, in which the flattened forms become the canvas for strong gestural mark making. Yellow Paradiso is a hot version of the series, with almost liquid ribbons of crimson, suggesting flowing lava.
