One of the things which sets our studio apart from many others are the intense periods of experimentation, or ‘playtime’ as we describe them, that Peter and the team devote to the creation of each new collection. This process is costly and time consuming and often yields beautiful pieces which suggest new directions to explore. The very special versions of these are kept on Peter’s sample shelves, often for years, until eventually Peter feels that he is able to release them. These form part of our ‘Highlights’ collection.
In an attempt to create surreal landscapes I have juxtaposed richly coloured vessels with bronze elements. In this case an Arrival of Spring roll-top bowl with the blasted treeforms of ‘no man’s land’. This piece was created for our exhibition called Synergy and I thoroughly enjoyed working with Witold Dzubiak on the bronze forms and patinas.
