Dancing Genes: DNA Sequence

£6,500.00

With a long-held interest with the collection as archive and traces of change through time, Louis Thompson’s work draws inspiration from the aesthetics of taxonomy, scientific research, and medical apparatus. Recent installations explore this theme through sequences of multiple free-blown and solid sculpted objects in which sequenced DNA patterns appear suspended in scientific bottles in a richly-coloured medium. Apothecary and taxonomy have inspired this collection of glass objects, in which sequenced DNA patterns appear suspended in laboratory conical flasks. These blown and hot sculpted elements reflect the artist's long standing interest in collections and archive.
