About the Gallery

London Glassblowing is a well established art/craft business with a gallery and working studio located on vibrant Bermondsey Street in SE1. Visitors can see and purchase contemporary glass art by our resident and guest artists as well as being able to view the creative process. We pride ourselves on being one of the best glassblowing studios in Europe and comprise a friendly and hardworking team.

The gallery and studio is based on vibrant Bermondsey Street, which is becoming the arts hot-spot of SE1, featuring internationally renowned galleries such as the White Cube and Fashion & Textile Museum as well as a host of independent galleries and artists’ studios.  

Gallery Assistant

Salary: £15,000 to £20,000 per annum, depending on experience

20 days holidays per year plus statutory bank holidays (pro rata)

Part-time 4 days a week including Saturdays

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to become a member of our gallery team. The ideal candidate will have experience in sales and a passion for contemporary art/craft. The role will suit an organised individual with an enthusiasm for keeping a bustling store area shipshape and keeping track of where things are located. Availability to work in the gallery on Saturdays is essential, as well as a handful of evening Private Views throughout the year.


The tasks include selling, gallery maintenance, stock management, packing and shipping, helping with exhibition setup, working at events.

The role will suit an art graduate / artist looking part-time work.


Overview of necessary key attributes / skills:

  • High level of literacy and numeracy skills
  • Great organisational skills with the ability to multitask
  • Sales experience in a relevant environment
  • Keen eye for detail
  • Ability to work (under pressure) efficiently, without supervision as well as part of a team
  • A willingness to learn (and the ability to follow instructions)
  • A proactive individual with a hands on approach and enthusiasm to get stuck in to all aspects of work
