The title of this exhibition refers to Peter Layton’s attempt to span the years by revisiting some of his favourite series, in order to make entirely new versions of them.
Some series were inspired by his travels to different parts of the world over the decades. Travel to places such as Japan, Petra, Marrakech and the Jurassic Coast have provided sparks of inspiration leading to bursts of creativity.
Expect to see these in surprising styles and new shapes, and colours. In this exhibition, Peter has included some of the pieces which were created during his development phase. These are stunning and in all cases they are priced lower than the resolved final works.
Whether you are a longtime fan or new to Peter’s work, this is a show not to be missed.
There will also be a small sale element to this exhibition, featuring selected pieces from the series that have inspired Peter’s recent creations.
Time Traveller Artist Talks
Peter Layton will be delivering to unique talks around this solo exhibition, discussing his motivations, inspirations and creative vision throughout the making process.
This online event will be discussing the possibility that a glass form provides a canvas, no less viable than a piece of stretched linen over four bits of wood. In other words, taking a painterly approach to working in hot glass.
Peter argues that taking inspiration from all manner of natural phenomena allows for almost limitless possibilities in this most magical and versatile of media, and will be discussing this idea in our online event.
