London Glassblowing's presentation at Collect 2026 commemorates a milestone moment: our 50th anniversary. This landmark year provides the perfect opportunity to showcase the extraordinary vitality and innovation that continues to define contemporary British glass.

Our curatorial approach centres on the remarkable diversity that has always been London Glassblowing's hallmark - a kaleidoscope of artistic voices, techniques, and aesthetic approaches that together demonstrate the boundless creative possibilities of glass.

London Glassblowing Stand (E24) at Collect 2025

We're presenting work from 17 exceptional artists whose practices embody this rich variety, including Colin Reid, David Patchen, Louis Thompson, Liam Reeves, and many more, spanning established masters to emerging talents.

This year at Collect, London Glassblowing welcomes two new artists - James Maskrey and Helen Restorick.

Welcoming James Maskrey to our Stand

With over 30 years of hot glass mastery, James brings an intellectually rigorous approach that elevates traditional craft into contemporary storytelling. His technical control allows him to mimic the visual qualities of entirely different materials - porcelain, liquid, even printed photographs and text - creating work that seamlessly marries craftsmanship with conceptual depth.

James's practice explores voyages of discovery and human endeavor, transforming historical moments into beautifully crafted glass objects that function as vessels of memory. His celebrated 'Antarctic Expedition' series, which includes work in the V&A's permanent collection, exemplifies this powerful fusion of narrative and form.

Based at the University of Sunderland's National Glass Centre, James represents the finest of British glass talent. We're honoured to bring his work to Collect, celebrating both his individual achievement and our ongoing commitment to championing exceptional artists in this medium.

Introducing Helen Restorick to Collect

As part of Collect's dedication to supporting emerging talent, exhibitors are invited to introduce a new artist each year - and we're thrilled to present Helen Restorick's debut at Collect this year. After exhibiting with us at the Contemporary Glass Society's Mirage exhibition last year, we were delighted to welcome Helen to our gallery.

Helen Restorick in her workshop

Helen's journey from medicine and genetics into glass brings a genuinely unique perspective to the medium. With an MA in Glass with Distinction from the University for the Creative Arts, she explores flow patterns in kiln-formed glass with scientific rigour, creating pieces where methodical experimentation produces unexpected beauty.

Initially inspired by blood flow in the human body, her exploration of movement has evolved to encompass flow in broader natural and psychological contexts. Through geometric designs and ordered patterns, she approaches glass as both scientist and artist, merging analytical thinking with aesthetic sensibility.

As London Glassblowing celebrates its 50th anniversary, presenting artists like Helen - who push glass into new conceptual territory whilst respecting its material properties - encourages the medium's continued evolution.
