Introducing Sally Scott
Winner of the New Designers London Glassblowing Prize 2025
We were thrilled to announce that Sally Scott won this year's London Glassblowing Prize!
After completing her Design Crafts Degree at De Montfort University, Sally displayed her degree show work at the New Designers Exhibition at The Business Design Centre in London with De Montfort University. It was here that she caught the attention of London Glassblowing Founder and artist Peter Layton and Gallery Director Gena Johns, leading to her being awarded the London Glassblowing Prize.

A Week at London Glassblowing
As part of her prize, Sally received a week of work experience at London Glassblowing at our Bermondsey Street studio - an invaluable opportunity for someone in the early stages of their career.
During her time with us, Sally had the privilege of learning from our talented team of glass artists. In the hot studio, she worked with Bruce Marks, our hot studio manager, alongside Liam Reeves and Peter Layton. She also had the opportunity to work with Tim Rawlinson and observe the exceptional skills of Louis Thompson, Layne Rowe, Anthony Scala, Sarah Wiberley, and Harri Thorne.
Reflecting on her experience, Sally observed “Incredible talent and skill in action, high levels of finesse and excellent practice".
Sally's experience wasn't limited to the hot studio. She spent valuable time in the cold studio where Sila Yucel guided her through the different processes involved in making pieces "gallery ready." She also received a packing masterclass from Gallery Assistant Lauren and benefited from gallery team member Isabel’s advice on preparing delivery notes - essential information for any emerging artist.

Christmas at London Glassblowing
We subsequently invited Sally to show her work in our forthcoming exhibition, Christmas at London Glassblowing. She rose to the challenge to create a gold piece to celebrate our 50th anniversary. Her works are freeblown, cut, polished and sandblasted sculptures that showcase her developing artistic voice and technical skill.
We are honoured to support her at this exciting stage of her career and look forward to seeing Sally's continued growth as a glass artist.

Morphology Gold 2
Sally's work has proved to be a sell-out and she has had to create additional pieces for us for our Christmas Exhibition.
