About This Piece

“I created this piece at the ‘Glass Olympics’ – the triennial International Glass Symposium at Novy Bor in the Czech Republic in 1988 (it was still Czechoslovakia at that time). I asked Rene Roubicek to add a 2.5 metre blown column to the centre to complete the piece. Stanislav Libensky, the father figure of contemporary European glass, told me I would have won a gold medal had there been one awarded, for the largest, most successful piece produced there. An absolute high point in my career. I have recently been informed that Pyramid is currently displayed in the new extension of the Novy Bor Glass Museum.”
