Summer Open House & Launch

15.07.16 - 24.07.16

London Glassblowing’s Summer Open House will be the first opportunity to see the latest design by master glassmaker, Peter Layton. Continuing his tradition of interpreting the styles of great painters in glass, his new series, Georgia, pays homage to celebrated artist Georgia O’Keeffe. The flowing, inky blues and greens found in Peter’s designs reflect the movement and mystery found in O’Keeffe’s work. The series, made in collaboration with Tate Modern, coincides with the launch of their current exhibition dedicated to the iconic painter, recognised as a pioneer of twentieth-century art.

As well as the full collection of Layton’s Georgia series, we will be displaying pieces from two amazing artists:

Jan-Joop Ruisch, a Dutch artist, who lives and works in the Czech Republic. His exquisite creations are cast in gorgeous colours and then ground and polished to an optical quality and effect.

Harry Morgan, a young rising star, whom we have sponsored as an emerging talent, has provided a small collection of his elegantly spare gravity-defying works.

The Summer Open House will also include inspired new work from London Glassblowing’s resident artists alongside Peter Layton’s pieces. The event is a fantastic opportunity to start or enhance your collection of contemporary glass art, we will have a selection of pieces to suit all budgets and tastes.

During the Summer Open House our hours are as follows:

Mon-Sat: 10am-6pm
Sunday 17 & 24 July: 11am-5pm.

Sunday 17 July is also the date of Bermondsey Arts Walk 2016 – a brilliant opportunity to enjoy all that SE1 has to offer in the way of arts and crafts. London Glassblowing Studio and Gallery is regarded as one of the U.K.’s must see contemporary studios and we very much look forward to welcoming you.
