Burano Standing Stones

‘As a young child growing up in Bradford, I was chuffed that my birthday fell on the longest day of the year and I still think it’s cool, although that wasn’t a word in use then! Although I’ve never managed to be at Stonehenge for the Solstice, I do remember walking inside that magnificent Standing Stone Circle, in the days when you could, and it left an indelible impression on me. 

‘In California, in the late 60’s I made some large ceramic Henge sculptures and over the years, in glass, I have made a number of small scale standing stone groups. It has always been my intention that these small installations should be able to be reconfigured at will and in some of these latest compositions I have tried to exploit the visual complexities of moire patterning in the forms.’
